The committee inquired into options for reducing excessive alcohol consumption by Australian soldiers including restricting opening hours of hotels, closing bars and hotels in areas of troop movements, prohibiting the selling of alcohol to troops receiving hospital treatment, 'anti-shouting' regulations and the prohibition of liquor.
