I Carried My Sketchbook (1984) By Ken Lovell
Private Ken Lovell joined the AIF in 1940, and saw action with the Sixth Division in Greece, and with the Seventh Division in the Battle for Syria. After being commissioned in Signals, he transferred to the 2/23rd Battalion, Ninth Division as a Signals Officer. He served with this battalion until the end of the war, and took part in the battles of Tel el Eisa and El Alamein in the Middle East and later saw action in New Guinea and Tarakan. There is very little narrative in this collection of captioned coloured caricatures and sketches, but Lovell's collection shows an interesting and humourous slant to the war.
