Kenneth Jack: World War II Paintings and Drawings (1990)

His book has a selection of the 500 paintings and drawings which Jack made in New Guinea, Moratai and Borneo in 1944 and 1945 when he was a teenager serving with the RAAF (as a survey draughtsman). They represent a young man's view of the drama and action of wartime whilst on active service, much of which has not been covered by the official war artists.

A selection of paintings and drawings from the archives of the Australian War Memorial. They cover a wide range of WWII subjects, from Allied invasions, war equipment, ships, planes, camp aspects, portraits, landscapes, and native villages, tied together by a narrative written by Jack himself. Kenneth Jack was not an official war artist but served in the RAAF as a survey draughtsman with a RAAF Construction Wing in New Guinea, Moaratai and Borneo, where he was able to paint and draw when not on duty.
