Renamo: From Terrorism To Democracy In Mozambique? (1996) By Alex Vines
Renamo was a phenomenon like the Khmer Rouge or the Contras. Initially trained by the Rhodesians and, later, by the South Africans, it evolved its own bloody style of terror and coercion. The first edition of this study came out at a time when Renamo was achieving an ever greater notoriety. It was even rumoured to be active within South Africa as part of the shadowy "Third Force". It has now entered into a peace agreement with the ruling Frelimo government in Maputo.
