Survival On The Battlefield: A Handbook to Military Martial Arts (1987) By Robert K. Spear
This book was groundbreaking in its day and is still useful now. At the time this was written, the Army had almost no combative doctrine, and did very little training. This book stressed the importance of training support troops, due to the asymmetrical and fluid nature of modern warfare. In that respect it is prophetic. It also looks at what various other threat nations were teaching at the time.
