The 6th Army surrendered despite Hitler's orders to fight to the death. This battle was the first complete defeat of a German field army by the Red Army and certainly not the last. The photographs portrays the brutal conditions under which the battle was fought for all the forces involved. Includes appendices on the German order of battle and divisional unit affiliations.
